Quality, individualized speech-language evaluations and therapy that's convenient for your family.
Early Intervention: Let's get your toddler talking!
By 12 months, a child typically says 1-6 words. By 18 months, 10-50 words. By 24 months, 50-300 words. By 30 months, 100-450 words. By 36 months, 250-1,000 words. If your child is not yet using as many words as expected or is growing frustrated, our parent coaching will empower you to:
Help your child achieve their communication milestones
Use every day routines to build your child's speech and language
Feel confident about your child's development
Understand your child's wants and needs
Speech Sounds: Let's helpyour child be understood!
Speech is how we say sounds and words. By 3, your child's speech should be easy for both family and strangers to understand the majority of the time. Children who have difficulty with pronunciation are at greater risk for later reading difficulties. If your child has trouble pronouncing sounds or is growing frustrated when not understood, we can help!
Language: Let's improve your child's listening and speaking skills!
Receptive language is the ability to understand what is said. If your child has trouble listening, following directions, or answering questions, they may need support to improve receptive language skills. Expressive language refers to the ability to convey thoughts and ideas. A limited vocabulary, trouble stringing words together, and grammatical errors are characteristics of a possible expressive language problem.
Language is complex! We can help your child build the listening and speaking skills that are critical for their emotional, social, and academic success.
How we help.
Screenings
Approximately 1 in 12 children have a speech or language delay. Getting help early promotes your child’s academic and personal success. Well Spoken Therapy offers speech-language screenings to local daycares and private schools for a small fee. After the screening is completed, we review the results and recommendations with parents. If the screening indicates further testing is warranted, the screening fee may be deducted from the cost of the evaluation.
Evaluations
An evaluation is an in-depth analysis of your child's communication skills. You will receive the results in a comprehensive report identifying your child's strengths, any identified areas of need, and recommendations for next steps.
Individual Therapy
Therapy frequency depends on your child's individual needs. Sessions are 30 or 45 minutes long and take place in the setting that is most convenient and comfortable for your family - via teletherapy (California only) or in-person at your child's school or home in Costa Mesa, CA and surroundings.
